However, sometimes just using one of these treatments does not produce the optimal effect a patient wants. Dramatic Results
BOTOX® and the several fillers we use are all meant to reduce the presence of wrinkles in the face. As such, combining fillers and the muscle relaxants within the same treatment can achieve a much more effective result than either treatment alone can.
For example, fillers often target the deep lines between the eyebrows, which appear when you frown and become more visible as you age. BOTOX® and Dysport® both also target these creases. As a result, using either one of these injectables with a facial filler makes these wrinkles disappear more completely. Similar combinations for treatment of other creases cause the face to become very smooth. While some patients prefer to have their wrinkles appear to fade in a more natural way, other patients may benefit from the thorough reduction of their wrinkles; these latter patients will benefits from immediately combining BOTOX® and facial fillers.
Lasting Effects
Alternatively, BOTOX® treatments may be used at regular intervals as a supplementary treatment to a previous facial filler treatment. This approach allows the effects of a filler to last much longer than normal, preventing the return of wrinkles.
This approach is also more effective for patients looking for the natural-appearing fading of their wrinkles, but who also want that effect to last longer. Some patients feel BOTOX® alone does not produce a natural effect, which is why they may choose a filler instead. However, a facial filler will require eventual retreatment, and the lessened effect between treatments may not be desirable. By using BOTOX® to prolong the effectiveness of facial fillers, your wrinkles do not reappear as quickly between treatments, and their faded appearance still looks natural.
